"You're going to get us in trouble, again." Tybal warned as he trailed alongside his brother. His flanks heaved a bit with his breath as the midday sun poured down upon them, seeping through his thick coat and warming the muscles beneath. His mottled black and white coat was shaggy and coarse, not giving much view to the lean, strong muscle beneath the covering of his frame.
Green eyes glinted as he huffed out a breath from his whiskered muzzle, rolling his eyes to his brother who thus far seemed to be plowing on determinedly toward the invisible line between safety and danger: the line between the Mountains and the other herds' lands.
"Don't be such a filly, Ty."Aro rolled his hazel eyes toward his brother, shaking out his shaggy mane of chocolate and white." Midnight doesn't even know we're here; we aren't gonna get in trouble."
"Is that supposed to be comforting? What if one of the stallions are around? Or a wolf? Or..something.." Ty seemed to be the worrier of the two. Truthfully, he enjoyed the outings with his brother even if he didn't really like the inherent danger in every little 'adventure.' "I mean it, Aro. This is stupid." he said again.
The dappled black, white, and chocolate hued colt came to an abrupt halt and Ty almost thought his brother was going to listen to his warnings, but when had he ever before? The dappled colt tossed his head as a cool breeze caught his shaggy mane, carrying with it the scents from south of the mountain range.
"Relax, nothin's gonna happen..Woooaaaahh!" At that exact moment, Aro began to prance forward again and tripped headlong over a fair-sized stone, sending his bulk rolling down a slight incline. Luckily for him, however, it wasn't a long fall and he hadn't injured himself, but he was a bit shaky when he stood up and shook the dust from his coat..

Crunch, rustle, rustle, crunch.
As quietly as she could, Storm walked along the small trail that had been worn into the tall grass of the Hills. She glanced behind her, checking if she was being followed. She didn't see, nor hear anyone, so she turned her head forward again and quickened her pace. The grass was tall, almost as tall as she was, so she had to lift her head high to look out over the waving grass as it moved in a gentle breeze.
She knew she wasn't allowed to be out here. She was supposed to stay near the herd, but Storm was notorious for being curious. And then there was the whole incident with the elder of the herd who had told her about a special spring that had bubbled out into a river that had once, a long, long time ago, been the border line between the Mountains and the Hills. Supposedly it had magical properties, but it was said that it had vanished under odd circumstances. So, of course Storm had been curious!
She quickened her pace until she was trotting strait for the invisible line that separated safety from danger. It was just then that she heard voices. She stumbled to a stop, just at the line and looked toward the Mountains curiously.
Even as she watched from the cover of the grass, two foals appeared, coming toward the line. Her ears pricked forward, listening intently to what they were saying. One of the foals was saying, "Relax, nothin's gonna happen..Woooaaaahh!" At that exact moment, one of the foals began to prance forward again and tripped headlong over a fair-sized stone, sending his bulk rolling down a slight incline. Luckily, it wasn't a long fall and he hadn't injured himself, but he was a bit shaky when he stood up and shook the dust from his coat.
Storm giggled slightly from where she was hidden, lowering her head so they wouldn't be able to see her. She peeked out through the grass toward the two colts, wondering if they had heard her. All thoughts of a magical spring, vanishing from her head.

Aro's ears pricked forward as he heard the giggle, turning his head first one way and then the other as his gaze panned over the area nearest him. It was still a bit rocky here and there as it should be near the mountainous region, but also beginning to flow into rolling hills of lush, thick grass that was good for hiding in. 'Hmph.. Don't be a dork, Aro..Nobody's hiding in the grass laughing at you..' he assured himself silently, shaking his head as a shaggy shock of chocolate hair fell in front of his eyes.
Turning, he watched his brother pick his way down the incline to his side, head tilted and brown eyes concerned. But before he could say a word, Aro interrupted with : "Took ya long enough to get down here. Seriously Ty, what are you, a snail?" he teased, nudging his brother's flank.
Ty snorted and rolled his eyes, extending his neck to nip at his brother. He wasn't really mad or anything; he was used to the teasing and being considered a baby for thinking about being safe, and not getting in trouble, and that sort of thing. He really didn't mind, but that was just how things were..Aro teased him and he pretended it bugged him. It was just a brother thing.
"I thought I heard something on the way down here. Did you see what it was?"
"Just a bird or something, I think. I don't see anything."Aro shrugged, refusing to admit he had thought someone was giggling at his fall.

They had noticed. Storm smiled slightly as she peeked through the grass toward the two colts. The colt that had fallen had righted himself and the second came down toward the fallen one, his expression concerned. The one that had fallen said something teasingly to the second one. Something about a snail? The second one nipped playfully at the foal that had teased him. From how they were acting, Storm guessed that they were brothers.
Storm considered stepping out and greeting them, but then decided to play around a bit with them first. She looked down at the dirt at her hooves until she found a medium sized pebble. She studied it for a moment and then pulled it toward her with one slender hoof. She looked down at the colts through the grass and then gave the pebble a mighty kick, sending it flying into the air, before it plumetted down, strait for one of the foals' head.

Aro certainly seemed to be the unlucky one today, which of course made sense considering that he was most commonly the one that led the way into trouble in the first place. Currently not looking in the direction of the hidden filly, he didn't see the pebble sailing toward his head until it was too late.
He gave a startled grunt of pain as the pebble pelted his crown, luckily bouncing off of his forelock though there had still been enough force for him to feel a twinge."Ow!"he mumbled looking down at the seemingly-innocent pebble and then toward the direction of the high grass.
Ty, meanwhile, couldn't help a high, whinnying laugh at his brother. "Nice, Aro. Beaten up by an itty, bitty pebble."he laughed, prancing in the direction of the tall grass though his head was still swiveled to watch his brother.

Storm had to stiffle another giggle as she heard what the colt that hadn't gotten hit in the head said to the one that had been hit by her pebble. Glancing down, she quickly found another pebble and then looked up again. She saw that one of the colts was coming in her direction, his head turned to look at the other colt.
This is fun! she thought, and then she took aim for colt that was nearing her, and kicked the second pebble at him before quickly backing up in an attempt to not be seen or discovered. She didn't stuffle her giggles as she backed up, stumbling deeper into the grass.

Aro rolled his eyes and glared exasperatedly at his sibling. "You wouldn't be laughing if it was you."he pointed out, muttering and casting his brother dark looks.
Ty snickered and shrugged, "But it wasn't. It was you and it was funny."he smirked, totally unaware that he was about to get hit as well. Still not looking where he was going, he stumbled in surprise as the pebble struck him. He lost his footing and stumbled forward into the tall grass, landing with an 'oomph'.
"You hear that?"Aro was asking even as Ty scrambled back to his hooves, both of them darting into the grasses to search for the source of that giggling. "Come out, whoever you are!"Ty demanded, though his coltish and high voice didn't hold much authority or intimidation at all.

Storm continued to giggle uncontrolably. She couldn't help it. When the two colts rushed into the grass toward her, she stumbled farther back and then suddenly ran in the other direction, looping around them so that she was now standing behind them. "Try and catch me," she called toward them, her eyes bright with mischief.
She bounded out of the grass, nimble as a deer, and stood right beside the invisible line that was between the Hills and the Mountains. She giggled again and then scuffed the ground at her feet. Unfortunetly, there weren't any more pebbles. Awww.... she thought, No more amunition.

Ty pivoted quickly toward the filly as he heard her voice, nearly colliding with Aro in their hurry to turn. It wasn't all that graceful, but they managed to turn quickly to dash after the filly who was now in their sights.
"You!" Ty gasped, eyeing her in a theatrical sort of way. "Nice aim with those rocks."he grinned. Sure, it had hurt, but he still thought the whole thing was funny and he didn't hold it against her that she'd kicked pebbles at them.
"A filly hit us with rocks? Ew.."Aro wrinkled his nose and scuffed a hoof along the grass..

Storm grinned at the foal who had complimented you. "Thanks!" she said, her eyes seeming to glitter with the praise. Hoever, her head swiftly turned to face the other foal, the spark vanishing as quickly as it had come. Her eyes narrowed and she snorted, "What? You think that, because I'm a girl, your better than me? I should hit you in the head with a pebble again for even thinking that," she said haughtily. Stupid colt, she thought in her head, though she didn't say it outloud.
She lifted her head slightly and her eyes regained that mischievous little gleam. She smirked, "You know, you looked like a total idiot as you tumbled down that small incline. I would have never made such a fool of my self," she said smugly. Plus, your on my herd's land. If you get caught, you get in trouble, not me, she added silently in her head.

Tybal rolled his eyes at his brother and shook his head, exasperated. Aro didn't seem to have any clue that that was not the thing to say in front of the filly, even if he did think that way. It was rude and frankly, to Ty, a little embarassing. 'Idiot! Geez, does he even think before he talks?' he sighed as he looked from his brother back to the filly.
"Ignore him. Aro apparently suffered some brain damage from the pebble," he grinned.
Aro glared at his brother and snorted, then frowned as he heard the filly's insults. "What? Yeah, right! You probably would've run off crying to your Mommy or something about how you'd skinned your knee." he snorted, embarassed and lashing out to cover it up.
Ty sighed and just didn't say a word; this was pretty usual behavior for Aro and he already knew his brother wasn't going to shut up until he proved triumphant or was sufficiently proved wrong.

Storm looked critically at the foal named, Aro. "Yes, probably. He most likely also suffered brain damamage when he tripped and fell," she said, flashing the other foal a small smile. Then she turned back to Aro, her eyes narrowing. From first impressions, she really didn't like Aro. What was his problem!? Besides hitting him with a pebble, she hadn't done anything.
Storm looked at Aro, a sudden flash of anger filled her which was quickly replaced by sadness. She didn't have a mother. Her mother had died giving birth to her. She took a deep breath, shoving her feelings away. Her face became impassive, "I wouldn't be able to do that, even if I wanted to," she said with a small shrug. Her eyes were completetly blank. Aro had hit a nerve with his last insult.

Ty liked this filly, whose name he hadn't even thought to ask. She seemed spunky and more than able to handle his brother's completely un-called-for behavior. Grinning still, he nodded. "Maybe; he's definitely acting like an idiot." he glared pointedly at his brother then, giving him a 'shut up, you moron' look. Especially when he saw the way Aro's last insult had affected her...He'd obviously hit a nerve, and as a colt who'd lost his own mother, Ty could certainly recognize the pain of loss.
Aro actually hesitated at that, frowning. He hadn't expected that response.."Oh." was all he said, seeming to deflate a bit. He didn't know what to say to that and he couldn't take back the obviously hurtful comment- nor did he really want to take back most of what he said, but the mother subject was taboo..He knew that better than most.

Storm looked at Aro, her expression still impassive. From his expression and reaction to her words, she concluded that they didn't have a mother either, or at the very least had felt the pain of loss before. "Well, it would see that I have forgotten to introduce myself. I'm Storm," she said. She had relaxed a bit, her emotionless expression shifting into a more relaxed smile.
One thing about Storm that most people who knew her knew, was that she didn't worry over things for long. It wasn't that she was forgetful. Instead, it was just that she didn't see teh point in worrying about things for a long time when it was easier to simply have fun.

"I'm Ty."The mottled black and white colt responded to Storm's introduction with a smile, seeming to have already forgotten his brother's blundering insults as well. But he looked around carefully, seeming to realize that they'd gone beyond the boundaries of the Mountains and that if either herd leader found them there, theyi'd be in big trouble.
"He's Tybal,"Aro emphasized what he considered to be an unfortunate name with a snicker, then added. "I'm Aro." almost as an afterthought. He focused more on Storm than their surroundings, mostly because he thought she might find ammunition to aim at them again and he wanted to be ready. But also because he just never thought they'd actually get caught.
