1) I think that when Midnight gives birth to her foal, we should change the season to summer. It's been Spring long enough
2) What are you guys planning to do with War Admiral? Because I'm thinking Road should kill him.
Yeah, yeah, way to stick my hoof in my mouth Two reasons: I think he's a badly-built character, and I think having a mare off him would be a nice bitchslap to the patriarchy. > I picked Road, cos she needs (eventually) to be outed as the carnivorous monster she is. (But also because she's my character, and I'm selfish like that. Come on, you all knew that was why. Lulz.) Anyway, those are my motives. Now hear my reasoning.
I think War Admiral is too 'totally evil' to be a good top villain. He's too polarized- there's no reason or logic to why he kills. There's no backstory, no feel for "the man behind the monster". It's kinda like Voldemort- he doesn't really exist for any purpose, except to menace the heroes. I, being a highly picky author, highly prefer Princeton as head baddie. He's complex. He's warped. He evokes strong emotions, messes people up mentally- I mean, there are only a few things that'll futsch you up like getting raped, pregnant, and half-deposed, only to kindasorta fall for the bastard who did it to you. That's much more satisfying, much darker, than "Oh, I'm just this supervillain and I kill everybody without knowing or caring much why". Right now, the only purpose I'm seeing to War Admiral is putting the fear of shpeeep into Princeton- which ain't that easy, in and of itself. But to be honest, I was expecting somebody much more developed as I was hearing about him.
>.< Now that I've thoroughly gone and made an ass out of myself, I'd like to mention that what ticks me off about War Admiral isn't that he's a potential-less character, but a lot-of-potential-wasted character. (He sounded reallyfriggincool as you were building him up.) I would love to put my money where my big fat mouth is, and help with any character development you guys might like to pursue.
Second reason: yeah, yeah, I have been completely seduced by the dark side. I mean, to the matriarchy. Now that Midnight has fallen to Mr. "She's just a mare" Princeton, I am in serious need of revenge. How does this sound: Princeton, who's completely screwed over everything Midnight wanted to prove, is deathly afraid of one and only one stallion. That stallion is killed, (absolutely, positively, no-chance-in-hell-he-had-a-chance mauled) by a mare. In almost the exact same circumstances that Midnight was in with Princeton. And then, she disappears without a trace. Poof. "Who is this mare?" How did she do it? It's possible for a mare to fight and win- she could be, like, Midnight's hope that what happened to her isn't the only way. Of course, Road around this time considers herself a murderer and lit out of there like she was gonna be lynched like the spawn of Satan. (I'm seeing her hiding out on the beach with Buddha.) Midnight could -secretly, without Princeton knowing it- set out a search to find this mare, who she's dressing up as a hero for all womankind. And Road is hiding like there's a price on her head.
Of course, there is. It's her oddball body. What happens when she's found- and when she's found out? What does Princeton think- that a single mare brought down War Admiral, just like that? Would he have an entirely different bounty set for her? Would he try to employ Dante? Would he fear her? Respect her? Hate her, as a threat to himself- and as somebody who did what he couldn't do?
XP So, those are all the interesting questions I raised by asking, "what would happen if Road offed War Admiral."
As to how...? I was thinking of having Admiral try to rape her. Maybe while he was closing in on Legacy in the mountains. I'm also open to the possibility of Road having a kid by either War Admiral or Princeton. I'm seeing a buckskin colt named Shiva...
Anyway. Speaking of Legacy. Princeton's a little softer on her than he is on his other mares- namely, his unwilling lead mare, Midnight. What sort of conflicts are gonna arise between "the queen" and "the king's wife"?
Annyway, that's my plottish diatribe for today. Tell me what you think of it.
